More info

A stylized figurine of Ganesha, the elephant-headed Hindu god, depicted playing the auspicious aerophonic (wind) instrument 'shehnai', it has been cast in bell metal. The finer detailing akin to carving adds manifold to its charm.

Cast using the lost wax metal casting technique, this is an excellent example of fine craftsmanship, and also, of the survival of an art form for over 4,000 years, the earliest known lost wax artifacts being the 'dancing girl' figurine from the Mohenjo-daro excavations.
